White Feather English Springer's
I encourage those looking for a puppy to research, research, research both the breeder and the breed. The ESSFTA, parent club to
the English Springer Spaniel, has vast amounts of information on the breeds health, temperament, upkeep, energy level and
personality to help you determine if this is the right dog for you and your lifestyle, as well I will happy to answer any questions I can
regarding the breed and my personal dogs. Remember, Springer Spaniels are an active sporting dog and need exercise, balance,
interaction, a job to do and structure. They are not well suited to spend hours a day alone in the yard or kennel. If your schedule is such
that a dog is wanted for a weekend companion with little time otherwise to spend with them, I would not suggest a dog as a pet and
certainly not a Springer Spaniel. .

As the puppies are raised in home, all begin manners training here with me and our pack. By the time they head out to their new
homes they have learned to exercise good bathroom habits, know how to kennel, crate and ride in a car, have learned how to stay
calm when asked and have been socialized with dogs, cats and humans; big and small and been exposed to leash walking, nail
trimming and grooming.
Puppies are available to leave after 9 weeks of age, I do not let them go prior to 9 weeks old.

All going to companion homes do so on a limited AKC registration with co-ownership until neutered. Limited registration allows for
owners to compete in AKC companion events such as obedience, rally, agility, hunting (any event that an English Springer is eligible
for) but dogs on limited registration can not compete in the conformation ring or have registrable litters, therefore companion puppies /
dogs are considered non-breeding animals.  I encourage all companion homes to get involved with their dogs in out side events and
strive to acquire the CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Certificate and any other companion event that interests them. (You can learn more
about the CGC
here.)

If you are interested in a puppy for show and/or  breeding purposes, those inquiries are addressed on an individual basis and also
determined by what may be available for such ventures. As I only breed when I am prepared to keep something for myself, the *first
picks* are made by me, subsequently there may not be a show/breeding prospect available as I do not believe that any litter contains
all show/breeding prospects.  Any puppy on a full registration (breeding rights) will be on a co-ownership contract until the conditions of
that contract have been met, no exceptions. I am happy to provide my contract for review in advance.
Show / breeding homes are considered only in regards to the best interest of the dog and breed as a whole and not to those simply
interested in producing puppies.

Be prepared for an interview process via phone, email and if possible in person. I do not let puppies go lightly as I have a responsibility
to their welfare for their entire lives and do all I can to assure a good fit. This includes giving all puppies the Volhard Temperament test
along with getting to know you and your family and helping to match the best puppy for your life style, personality and wants. I will be
happy to provide references as to the success of this approach. The Volhard Temperament test is given at 49 days. The results of
those tests are included in the puppy pack as well as gone over with the new families so that they understand the meaning behind them
as well as why I suggested the puppy I did for them and their lifestyle.

Puppies come with a puppy pack that includes photos and copies of all health clearances for both dam and sire, registration
certificates, title certificates as well as all information pertaining to the particular puppy including; all health tests to date, vaccination
records,  parasite management, dates and results of all vet visits, contract, guarantee, pedigree and registration certificate, additional
information about the breed and their history. All puppies will have  ACVO CERF exam results. Cord 1 PRA - DNA are done on all
show/breeding prospects (unless first generation clear by parentage) . Tail docking and dew claw removal are done by a licensed
veterinarian. Currently tails are still being docked to meet the ESSFTA standards for conformation showing.  This practice may change
with future litters.
All puppies will be micro chipped and the chip registered upon leaving my care.

I provide a health guarantee and return policy that includes Cord 1 PRA (the dog will never be  Cord1 PRA affected or afflicted),
epilepsy and temperament, over all health as well as what is expected of both myself as the breeder and you as the owner. Although I
only breed dogs that pass OFA hip and elbow clearances, I do not guarantee hips nor elbows at maturity as I can not control nutrition
and exercise once they have left my care, things that can affect joint development and out come. I will advise on proper nutrition and
exercise. Should it be determined by the OFA that a puppy (under 2 years of age) has issues with hips or elbows that are deemed to
be genetic in nature I will stand behind them in assisting the owner in making a decision on the best approach to handling the matter,
including replacing the puppy or refunding purchase price upon return, if desired.

Mom is fed Evanger's Pheasant kibble and a variety of Evanger's canned meat and pups are weaned on Evanger's Pheasant kibble
and goat milk to ensure the best possible start. I encourage the  feeding of Evanger's or other quality dog foods.

My intention regarding the breeding of an English Springer Spaniel is to further the over all improvement of the breed while maintaining integrity to
the intent of the sporting dog. I take many factors into consideration when deciding whether or not to breed (or breed to) a particular dog. These
include: over all health and clearances with a family history of same, proper structure, correct temperament and the want to do the job they were
intended for. Although I prefer the *bench bred* style ESS, my dogs still have the desire and ability to go into a field or cover and locate birds, flush
and retrieve them; being sound both physically and mentally.  Traits I find not only desirable but important in this breed whether bench or field bred.
I believe that form follows function and a dog that adheres to breed standards, possesses a drive to hunt and has the health and mind to preform
these tasks is worthy of consideration.

My dogs are my companions in all things, (this is one reason I keep limited numbers), which requires a correct temperament and functionality. I find
them to be one of the most versatile breeds developed, even though they fail miserably as guard dogs!; possessing a soft disposition, a want to
be with their person, the intelligence to preform most any task assigned to them and the intense drive to get it done. They are both biddable and
independent, providing me with all I could ask for in a dog. All one needs to do is look at the extensive history of this breed to see why they have
been successful in so many endeavors for hundreds of years. There are reasons why they are one of the oldest pure bred spaniels in the world
today and still enduring.

I have never bred a litter for the sake of doing so. I have only bred when I have the intention of adding to my *pack*, so it is infrequent that I have
puppies available. As a result this up coming litter has people on the reserve list that have been waiting nearly 2 years for a puppy from Venus. The
opportunity to have others share what I have everyday with her is one I am grateful for. She is s superb dog and I couldn't ask for a better
companion at home, in competition events or in the field.  She proved to be an exceptional mother to her previous litter of 10, I've no doubts that
with this litter she will be the same.

Following, there is a fair amount of information on the up coming litter in regards to registration types and what to expect from a puppy from this
breeding. The sire for this litter has been selected and confirmed and I am very excited to have the option of breeding to him as he possess every
thing one would expect of a quality dog. I will be posting his particulars and photo's when an ultra sound confirms conception. The breeding is
scheduled to take place in
fall when Venus' next heat cycle is expected. Due to the distance between the dogs, this mating will be done AI.
Those on the reserve list will be contacted personally following both the breeding and ultra sound.
